Public Law Trip to London (Thursday 17th and Friday 18th November)




Bangor Law School’s Public Law team are delighted to offer students studying on the SXL 1110/2210 modules the opportunity to join us in London for a tour of the Houses of Parliament, Supreme Court and Royal Courts of Justice, as well as a walking tour of key historic landmarks, including: Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, Horse Guards’ Parade, Chancery Lane, Lincoln’s Inn, St James Park and Buckingham Palace.
*Please note that the registration fee of £28.50 does not include travel and, if necessary, accommodation. Students are responsible for organising and financing their own travel and accommodation arrangements (please see note below)
There are very limited spaces on this trip, and they are made available to students on a strictly first come first served basis.



Detailed Description

Bangor Law School’s Public Law team are delighted to offer students studying on the SXL 1110/2210 modules the opportunity to join us in London. The itinerary is as follows:


Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements, and a staff member contact telephone number will be passed to all attendees. Students are welcome to travel with members of staff who will be leaving Bangor by train at 7:22am for London Euston (Virigin Train, no connection changes). Staff members will arrive in to London Euston at 10:39am
11:30am – Meet Hywel Williams MP (Leader of Plaid Cymru in Westminster) at Portcullis House
For students who made their own travel arrangements, they should meet Stephen Clear outside Portcullis House at 11:20am.
From 11:30am Tour of Houses of Parliament
Q and A with Member of Parliament in House of Commons’ Committee Room
Sit in Public Gallery on debates taking place in House of Commons and House of Lords
3:45pm Tour of Supreme Court, and visit to Supreme Court Educational Centre
5:00pm Walking tour of Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Downing Street, Horse Guards’ Parade, St James Park and Buckingham Palace
For students only wishing to have a day visit and go back same day, there are trains leaving London Euston at 6:10pm and 7:10pm which are straight through to Bangor (no connection or changes).

For students who wish to stay in London overnight, and join us on Friday for a second day of activities, free time in the evening to explore London.

10:30am- Meet staff members outside Chancery Lane tube station
Walking tour of Chancery Lane and Lincoln’s Inn (Barristers’ Chambers)
11:00am – Visit Royal Courts of Justice, Educational Centre and sit in on High Court cases
12:30pm – Lunch
Staff members will depart London on Friday at 2:10pm from London Euston, arriving back in Bangor at 5:38pm. Again, students are welcome to travel back to Bangor with staff members, however are responsible for booking their own travel.
