Detailed Description

Course description: This Mandarin course is suitable for beginners willing to develop essential everyday conversational skills and familiarise themselves with basic Chinese characters. The course covers greetings, numbers, introductions, nationalities, professions, daily and work schedules; likes and dislikes; ordering simple food and drink; family, weather and seasons; shopping; methods of transport, etc. Our Tutor will focus on speaking and listening skills and help students learn how to recognise basic Chinese characters.  

We expect that by the end of this course, students should be able to attempt taking the HSK 1 Exam. 

We recommend that at least 2 hours of independent study are undertaken each week to ensure students can keep up with the pace of the course. 

Learning outcomes: Students are expected to familiarise themselves with 178 characters and establish a vocabulary of 150 Chinese words used in everyday contexts. 

Learning materials: All teaching materials are developed by our teachers using HSK 1 book and additional sources. All learning materials will be provided throughout the course.
