Mindfulness Competency Assessment recognised by the British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches (BAMBA) through the internationally acclaimed Mindfulness-based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI:TAC) developed at Bangor University.
Detailed Description
Bangor University’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) is committed to supporting the professional development of mindfulness-based teachers and maintaining the highest standards of teaching practice. The Certificate of Competence to Teach Mindfulness-Based Approaches is a formal assessment and certification process designed for teachers who have completed training with a teacher-training organisation recognised by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA).
This competency assessment offers teachers the opportunity to gain external, independent recognition that their teaching meets internationally benchmarked standards of good practice, using the Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI:TAC). The MBI:TAC framework, developed at Bangor University in collaboration with Exeter and Oxford Universities, is internationally regarded as a rigorous, evidence-informed method for evaluating the essential skills and qualities of mindfulness-based teaching.
Teachers who successfully pass the assessment will receive a Certificate of Competence from Bangor University, confirming that their teaching practice has been assessed as meeting the required standard. This certificate enables teachers to demonstrate that they meet quality standards of teaching mindfulness-based approaches. Furthermore, they can register as “competency-assessed” on the BAMBA Teacher Register, demonstrating to employers, participants, and the wider public that they meet the highest standards of mindfulness-based teaching in the UK and internationally.
